- Author: KlientHQ

Add the jobs you sell, with a price and a time, so customers can book them online.

## At a glance

**You'll accomplish:** One service that is ready to book online: a name, a description, a time estimate, a price, and optional add-ons and questions.

**Time needed:** About 10 minutes for a simple service. Allow a few more minutes if you add add-ons and questions.

**What you need**

- A KlientHQ login
- A rough price and time for the job
- Optional: a list of add-ons (inside the oven, extra bathroom, filter replacement)
- Optional: questions you always ask before a visit (pets, gate code, system age)

2. [Step by step](#steps)

5. [Next step](#next)

## Before you start

- **Know your starting price and time.** A rough number is fine. You can change it later.
- **Think about add-ons.** If customers often ask for extras, list them. You will add them in Step 5.
- **Think about questions.** What do you need to know before you show up? Write them down. You will add them in Step 6.
- **Set up a territory first, if you have not.** A service only reaches customers who are inside a territory you have turned on. [Our territory guide](territory-setup.html) takes about 10 minutes.

Why this matters

Online booking reads your services directly. What you enter here is what customers see, and what they pay. A clear name, an honest time, and a price they can understand lead to fewer questions and fewer surprises on the day of the job.

Tip

This guide connects to [How to set up a service territory](territory-setup.html). The territory answers "where do you work?" The service answers "what do you sell?" Customers need both to complete a booking.

## Step by step

### Open your services

In the left menu, click **Services**.

The page shows the heading **Services** and a count of your active and total services. Use the **All**, **Active**, and **Inactive** tabs to filter, and **Search services...** to find one.

If you have no services yet, the page says **No services yet** and offers two ways to begin: a suggested template, or your own.

The Services page, with its filter tabs and the buttons for starting a new service.

### Choose how to start

You have two options. Pick the one that fits.

Option A: start from a suggestion

1. Click **Suggested**. The **Suggested Services** window shows ready-made services for your business type. Each card lists a price and a count of its add-ons and questions.
2. Click a card. The service is created right away, with its add-ons and questions already filled in, and you land on its edit page.
3. Review everything, starting with the Overview tab in Step 3.

The **Suggested Services** window. Each card is a starting point for your business type. (This demo account has none for its business type, so the window is empty. Yours may show cards.)

Heads up

Template prices are starting points, not rules. Change them to your own before you go live.

If the window says "Please set your business type in settings to see suggested services", set your business type in your settings first, then try again.

Option B: start from scratch

1. Click **Add service**. A blank service opens with a **Service name** field and a **Save & configure** button.

### Fill in the Overview tab

The service editor has four tabs across the top: **Overview**, **Sell**, **Book**, and **Ops**. Start on **Overview**, in the **Identity** card.

1. **Service name** (required). Use the words customers use, such as "Standard house cleaning".
2. **Description** (optional). Write one or two plain sentences on what is included. Customers see this on the booking page.
3. **Base duration**: how long the job usually takes. The default is **Not set**. Booking shows this to customers as an estimate, so choose one.
4. **Active in catalog** is on by default. Turn it off to hide the service from online booking without deleting it.
5. Optional: click the square image at the top to upload a photo. It must be under 5 MB. Customers see it on the service card.
6. If this is a new service, click **Save & configure**. The button stays gray until you type a name.

The **Overview** tab. Start with the name and base duration.

Heads up

Add-ons, questions, and repeat-visit options all need the service saved first. Until you save, you will see notes like "Save to add modifiers". After your first save, you land on **Sell**, on the **Modifiers** sub-tab.

### Set the price on the Sell tab

The **Sell** tab has four sub-tabs: **Base price**, **Modifiers**, **KYC**, and **Price rules**. Open **Base price**. The card is titled **Base pricing**.

1. **Base price**: the starting price for the service.
2. **Minimum** (optional): the lowest total the service can come to.
3. **Free service**: for no-charge work like estimates. Turning it on sets the price and minimum to 0 and turns **Taxable** off.
4. **Taxable**: turn this on if sales tax applies. Turning it on turns **Free service** off. The tax rate itself is not set here. The card links you to where it lives.

Both switches start off.

The **Base pricing** card on the **Sell** tab.

Tip

You can put the whole price in the base price. Or keep the base price low and let add-ons carry the rest, for example by home size. Pick one approach per service, then test it as a customer in the last step.

Heads up

A booking card only shows a price when it is above zero. If a service has no base price and is not marked **Free service**, customers see no price on its card.

### Add options with Modifiers

Modifiers are the choices customers make while booking: home size, extra rooms, add-on tasks. On the **Modifiers** sub-tab, the hint reads "Add-ons customers pick when booking."

A *group* holds related choices. For example, a group called "Property Size" can hold the options "1-2 Bedrooms", "3 Bedrooms", and "4+ Bedrooms".

1. Click **Add Modifier Group**. You can also click **Use Template** to start from a ready-made group.
2. In **Create Modifier Group**, enter a **Group Name** (required), such as "Property Size".
3. Choose a **Selection Type**: **Single Choice** (pick one, the default), **Multiple Choice** (pick several), or **Quantity** (customers set a count per option).
4. Turn on **Required** if customers must answer before moving on. It starts off.
5. Click **Create Group**.
6. Inside the group, click **Add Option**. Enter an **Option Name** (required), such as "3 Bedrooms".
7. Set a **Price Adjustment ($)**. It starts at $0\. A positive number adds to the price. A negative number subtracts.
8. Set a **Duration** in hours and minutes. It adds to the service time, or takes time off if negative.
9. Click **Add Option**. Repeat for each option.

The **Create Modifier Group** window.

Tip

You can drag groups and options to put them in the order you want customers to see.

### Ask questions with KYC

The **KYC** sub-tab ("Know Your Customer Questions") holds the questions customers answer while booking. Use it for what your crew needs to know in advance.

1. Click **Add Question**. Or click **Templates** to start from common ones, such as "Do you have any pets?"
2. Type your **Question** (required).
3. Choose a **Question Type**: **Short Text**, **Long Text**, **Dropdown**, **Multiple Choice**, **Checkboxes**, or **Yes/No**.
4. For Dropdown, Multiple Choice, and Checkboxes, add at least one answer with **Add an option**.
5. Turn on **Required Question** if the answer is a must. It starts off.
6. Click **Add Question**.

The **KYC** sub-tab with a question being added.

Why this matters

A question like "Will you be home during the appointment?" saves a phone call later. Your crew sees the answer before they arrive.

### Turn on online booking on the Book tab

The **Book** tab is where you decide whether customers can pick this service online, and when.

1. Check that **Available for online booking** is on. It starts on. The text reads "Customers can select this service on your public booking page."
2. In the **Availability** card, choose between "Use default time slots based on your business hours and availability settings" (the default) and "Use custom availability hours for this service".
3. Optional: set a custom minimum booking notice, or a **Buffer time between appointments**. The buffer starts at **No buffer**.
4. If you changed anything in the **Availability** card, click its **Save** button. That card has its own **Save** and **Cancel**.

The **Book** tab. This is where the service goes live for online booking.

Optional: offer repeat visits

In the **Recurring** card, click **Add Option** to offer repeat visits, such as every two weeks. Give the option a **Label / Name**, choose a **Frequency** (**Weekly** is the default), and set the **Every** interval. You can also add a discount. Click **Create**.

Heads up

A service with **Active in catalog** off, or **Available for online booking** off, is not shown to customers.

### Save

Click **Save changes**. The button reads **Saved** when everything is stored. A chip at the top shows whether the form is **Unsaved** or **Up to date**.

The header also shows a line starting "Customer preview:" with the price, the estimated time, and whether online booking is on. Use it as a quick check before you leave.

The header after a successful save.

## What you'll see next

Back on the **Services** list, your service appears with its price and duration. If it is active and open for online booking, it is live on your booking page.

On the booking page, a customer whose ZIP code passes the territory check sees **Select a service**. Each card shows the name, a short description, an estimate of the time, and a price if it is above zero. After they pick a service, the steps depend on what you built:

1. **Customize**, if the service has modifier groups
2. **Details**, if it has questions
3. **Frequency**, if it has active repeat-visit options
4. Then date and time, provider, and contact info

### Test it as a customer

1. Open your public booking page.
2. Enter a ZIP code inside one of your territories and continue.
3. Pick your new service and walk through every step. Check the price, the time, the add-ons, and the questions.

Tip

Do one test booking before you share your link. Most surprises, like a missing price or a confusing option name, show up in the first two minutes.

## If something isn't working

### My service isn't on the booking page.

Check these in order:

1. **Active in catalog** (Overview tab) is on.
2. **Available for online booking** (Book tab) is on.
3. You saved. Look for **Saved** on the button.
4. A territory covers the customer's ZIP code, and that territory is **Active** with **Online Booking** on. See [How to set up a service territory](territory-setup.html).

### The price doesn't show on the service card.

Cards only show a price above zero. Set a **Base price** on the Sell tab, or check whether your pricing sits in add-ons.

### The Customize, Details, or Frequency step is missing.

Those steps only appear when the service has a modifier group, a question, or an active repeat-visit option. Add one on the Sell or Book tab.

### Add Modifier Group is disabled, or I see "Save to add modifiers".

Save the service once first. Then the Sell tab options open up.

### An image won't upload.

Images over 5 MB are rejected with "Image too large (max 5MB). Try compressing or choosing a smaller file."

### I can't add another service.

Your plan may limit how many services you can have. If you see a plan limit message, you can upgrade, or turn an old service off with **Active in catalog** and try again.

## Next step

With a territory and a service in place, customers can find you and pick a job. If people are being turned away at the ZIP code step, go back to the territory guide first.
